Time Stands Still: Reflections from the Birth
of Isabella Eden Fisher
The Stillness of Sacred Moments
In the weeks leading up to Isabella’s arrival, life was full of planning, preparation, and anticipation. But when the moment came, none of that planning really mattered. There was no clock watching, no checklist ticking, no room for anything but presence.
I found myself sitting beside my wife, watching her strength and courage unfold before me, and feeling both helpless and profoundly honored to witness this miracle.
Our two-year-old daughter, Evie, was nearby—curious, excited, and blissfully unaware of the weight of the moment. There was something about her innocent joy and our newborn’s first cries that felt like a reset button on life.
We weren’t checking our phones.
We weren’t thinking about emails.
We weren’t worrying about tomorrow.
We were just there. Together. Fully present.
What Isabella is Teaching Me About Time
It’s funny how something so small can hold so much wisdom. In these early days with Isabella, I’ve been reminded of a few powerful truths—lessons that I hope I’ll carry with me long after the newborn haze fades:
1. Presence is the Greatest Gift
Babies don’t operate on schedules, and they don’t worry about what happened yesterday or what might happen tomorrow. They live entirely in the now.
Isabella isn’t thinking about milestones, plans, or strategies—she’s simply being. And that’s enough.
Lesson: The most meaningful moments in life happen when we stop rushing through them and allow ourselves to simply be there.
2. Slowing Down Doesn’t Mean Falling Behind
As entrepreneurs, we often measure progress in milestones and metrics. But in this first week at home, I’ve realized something: slowing down isn’t the same as stopping—it’s simply creating space for what truly matters.
I’m still me—I still have dreams, goals, and work to do. But this week, those things have taken their rightful place behind this sacred pause.
Lesson:
Rest, stillness, and presence aren’t barriers to success—they’re the foundation for it.
3. The World Can Wait
When Isabella was born, the world outside didn’t stop turning. Emails still piled up, meetings still happened, and deadlines still approached. But in our little home, none of that mattered.
The world can wait for the moments that truly matter.
Lesson: The world will still be there when you’re ready to return to it. But these moments? They’re fleeting. Don’t miss them.
Entrepreneurship and the Illusion of Time
As entrepreneurs, we live under the illusion that we can create time. We optimize, automate, delegate, and hustle—all in pursuit of squeezing a few extra minutes out of the day.
But in reality, time isn’t something we create—it’s something we choose.
Every minute we spend is a decision. And on Sunday, as my wife brought our daughter into the world, I realized that the most valuable time isn’t earned—it’s savored.
This week, I’ve been savoring time.
Time with my wife, who continues to amaze me with her strength and grace.
Time with Evie, who’s embraced her new role as a big sister with so much joy.
Time with Isabella, who reminds me every time I hold her just how sacred and fleeting these moments are.
The Takeaway: Presence is a Discipline
It’s easy to think of slowing down as something passive—something that happens to you. But the truth is, presence is an active choice. It’s something you have to commit to, practice, and protect.
For those of you reading this—especially my fellow entrepreneurs—I know how hard it can feel to step away from the grind. There’s always something more to do, another milestone to hit, another problem to solve.
But I promise you this: the moments you pause for will reward you more deeply than any success ever could.
A Gentle Reminder
As I sit here typing this with Isabella sleeping beside me, I want to leave you with one thought:
Time is always moving, but your attention is yours to control.
Whatever season you’re in—whether you’re scaling a company, chasing a dream, or building something meaningful—don’t let it steal your ability to be here now.
Because when all is said and done, it’s not the hours we worked or the deals we closed that we’ll remember—it’s the moments like these.
Snow on the trees.
Sunlight pouring in.
A new life beginning.
Time standing still.
Thank you for letting me share this moment with you.
I’m so grateful for this little pause—for this sacred chapter with my family. And I hope, in some small way, it inspires you to find your own moments of stillness this week.
With gratitude,
Benny
P.S. We’ll be sharing more updates as we settle into life with Isabella Eden. For now, we’re soaking in every moment—and I hope you find time to do the same.
